Riley Cox, Arborist - B.Sc. Environmental Science & Biology, ISA Certified Arborist®

Riley is an ISA Certified Arborist with a B.Sc. in Environmental Science. He brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and hands-on experience to his role, having spent three years on DHC’s Operations crew restoring native ecosystems before transitioning into the world of arboriculture. Before that, Riley also earned a diploma in accounting and worked in finance for two years. Ultimately, a love for the natural world — and a desire to swap crunching numbers for fostering green spaces — led him to pursue a career where he could make a meaningful impact on the community and environment.

Now at DHC, Riley specializes in arborist reports, tree protection and removal plans, and tree inventories. He aims to balance practical urban development with ecological integrity, helping clients make informed, sustainable decisions. With a passion for urban trees and natural landscapes, Riley is driven by the idea that healthy urban forests are key to thriving communities.

When he’s not working among the trees, Riley can usually be found among them somewhere in the mountains—trail running, mountain biking, or backcountry skiing—fueling his curiosity for the natural world and appreciation for the landscapes he works to protect.
