Lauren Smith, Natural Areas Planner - MRM Planning, B. Social Science

Lauren is an environmental planner who is passionate about planning with nature in mind. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria, double majoring in Geography (conc. Geomatics) and Environmental Studies, where she went on to begin her career as a GIS professional. She then completed her planning Masters in the school of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University, focusing on how to better incorporate green space quality information into connectivity analyses when planning for biodiversity in cities. At Diamond Head, Lauren is working on biodiversity conservation strategies for municipal clients and working towards obtaining her RBTech and RPP designations. Lauren’s goal is to continue to promote the importance of protecting wildlife and their habitats in urban spaces and to plan for built environments that adhere to biodiversity sensitive design.
