Forester
Consulting Arborist
Diamond Head Consulting, an award-winning environmental consulting firm based in Vancouver, is seeking a Forester to join our team. We an interdisciplinary team of urban forest professionals, biologists, arborists and planners who work collaboratively with municipalities, land developers, Indigenous communities, and NGOs across Canada. We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Forester to join our team and support a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from urban forest planning to wildfire mitigation and ecosystem restoration.
We are currently working on Urban Forest Strategies, Community Wildfire Protection Plans, and development-related projects which require tree management planning. The Urban Forester will play a key role in the successful completion of all these projects and initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support tree inventories, risk assessments, and tree protection strategies
Conduct fieldwork including tree and vegetation surveys, data collection, and site assessments
Develop arborist reports, wildfire mitigation assessments, and forest health plans
Liaise with municipal staff, developers, Indigenous partners, and community groups
Collaborate across disciplines to contribute to integrated planning, design, and implementation solutions that balance development and ecological integrity
Candidates will ideally:
Be a registered professional with the ABCFP (RPF) or a Forester in Training working towards RPF certification
Have 3+ years of experience in forestry, arboriculture, or ecosystem management (urban or wildland)
Have strong working knowledge of BC’s urban forest context, wildfire interface issues, and tree protection regulations
Be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and across varied terrain
Be skilled in technical writing, data management (e.g., Excel, GIS), and stakeholder communication
Have experience with wildfire risk assessments, fuel typing, or FireSmart planning
This is a Full-time position starting when we find the right candidate. The starting wage range is $28 to $50, depending on experience.

FORESTER
Diamond Head Consulting, an award-winning environmental consulting firm based in Vancouver, is seeking a Consulting Arborist to join our team. The Consulting Arborist would support the ongoing development, administration, and improvement of Diamond Head’s Arboriculture Department services, and support office and field staff working on a variety of inventory and development related projects.
We are currently working on large tree inventories, and the Arborist/urban forester will play a key role in help complete these projects and initiatives successfully.
Day-to-day tasks include:
Tree inventories-Identifying and assessing onsite tree species, measuring and recording tree attributes (e.g., DBH, condition)
Attend Site Supervisions for development-related projects
Writing reports and memos for clients based on supervision observations
Downloading and utilizing maps using ArcGIS Field Maps deployed on iPads to locate trees
Responding to public inquiries in the field
Conforming to and documenting safe working practices
Candidates must have:
ISA Certification or working towards certification
ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification or working towards certification
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
AutoCAD
ArcGIS
Microsoft Office Suite
We are looking for a proactive and collaborative team member, with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to independently problem-solve is essential.
This is a Full-time position starting when we find the right candidate. The starting wage range is $25 to $45, depending on experience.
