Environmental Assessment and Management
District of North Vancouver
2013 - 2014

Diamond Head completed an environmental assessment (EA) to support development of a new community recreation centre in William Griffin Park. Our team identified significant ecological values (e.g. watercourses, trees, wildlife) and risks (e.g. invasive species, forest fire) associated with the site. Strategies to mitigate potential environmental effects of the development were identified, including tree protection and restoration of sensitive riparian habitat.

Diamond Head collaborated with City staff and the design team to ensure important ecological values were considered and incorporated into the final plans. This role also included identifying regulatory requirements and supporting public consultation. When completed, the Community Centre will be a valuable public amenity that emphasizes the District’s vision for sustainability and environmental protection.
