Revegetation Strategy for Disturbed Sites
Toba Montrose General Partnership
2011 - 2012

During the construction of the Montrose and Toba small hydro power projects in the Toba watershed, extensive natural areas were disturbed. Diamond Head was hired to assess the success of revegetation of the disturbed sites. The areas were stratified into similar polygons, mapped using GPS, and inventoried for vegetation regeneration. Many areas along the penstocks were not meeting their required revegetation targets, due to the harsh growing climate and the poor-quality soils which were exposed during construction. Revegetation prescriptions were developed for these areas, along with cost estimates and an implementation plan.
