PORT METRO VAN INVASIVE SPECIES Inventory
DESCRIPTION: Land-Based Invasive Species Inventory
CLIENT: Port Metro Vancouver
Diamond Head compiled a ‘desktop inventory’ of high risk invasive species for Port Lands. Over 30 local governments and organizations were contacted and asked to share inventory data and information. This project was the first step toward helping the Port determine which invasive species (plants, animals, insects, etc.) pose a risk to Port lands, infrastructure, biodiversity and human health. DHC identified Port activities that could lead to the spreading of invasive species. Management plans for high risk species were developed outlining control and mitigation options. A plan for a ground field survey of invasive species was provided.
