north vancouver invasive plant management strategy

Policy and Management Strategy
District of North Vancouver
2014

Diamond Head worked with the District of North Vancouver to develop an Invasive Plant Management Strategy to help protect the long term ecological integrity of the District’s parks and natural areas. The Strategy includes:

>  Providing a standardized approach to invasive plant management to ensure consistency between staff and departments

>  Assessing risk in order to set species and park level management priorities

>  Assessing existing spatial inventory data and providing recommendations for the District’s new in-house invasive species mapping and monitoring tool

>  Developing District specific Best Management Practices (BMPs) to direct appropriate treatment methods and preventative operational practices

>  Providing an action plan for 2014-2020 including resource requirements and timelines.
