MEAGER CREEK LANDSLIDE Mitigation
Environmental Monitoring + Mitigation
Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations
Diamond Head was the environmental monitor for road repair work resulting from the 2010 Meager Creek landslide, which was Canada’s second largest on record. Approximately 7 km of Forest Service Road were destroyed during this event, including 2km that required immediate repair to facilitate access for local industry. The work plan was designed to restore temporary road access and mitigate degradation to existing and newly developing fish habitat. Diamond Head conducted an assessment of impacted creeks, coordinated with the DFO and provided advice to protect and restore fisheries values.
