Fisheries habitat assessment of kanaka Creek Regional Park

Riparian and Water Quality Assessment
Metro Vancouver
2017 - Ongoing

Metro Vancouver purchased a property to incorporate into Kanaka Creek park which includes three man made ponds. Biologists at DHC assessed the in-stream and riparian condition of these ponds. The connectivity to the adjacent Thornvale creek was analyzed to identify opportunities to restore them to overwintering habitat for fish and in particular juvenile Coho. This project included an analysis of hydrology, water quality and in stream habitat. Detailed options were developed including grading plans to be used for the restoration contract.
