GIS Technician (closed)

Diamond Head Consulting, an award-winning environmental consulting firm based in Vancouver, is seeking a GIS Technician to join our team. The GIS Technician would support office and field staff working on a variety of arboriculture, biology, and environmental planning projects. Common tasks would include the following:

  • Georeferencing CAD files in ArcGIS

  • Digitizing and polygon editing

  • Editing and publishing forms and data for ArcOnline

  • Air/satellite photo interpretation

  • Map layout and design

  • Overlay analysis

  • Data processing and conversion

  • Generation of summary statistics

  • Some IT support and troubleshooting

The ideal candidate would have a certificate or diploma in GIS, experience with ESRI ArcGIS software, and generally be computer savvy. Additional experience in any of the following would be an asset:

  • Field form design and use of ESRI’s Collector app and ArcOnline GIS interface

  • Python and/or R scripting for geospatial and data analysis applications

  • QGIS

  • Remote Sensing

  • AutoCAD

  • Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) for graphic design and document layout

  • IT skills

You need to be a proactive and collaborative team member, with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to independently problem-solve is essential.

Professional Climbing Arborist 

Diamond Head Consulting is seeking a professional climbing arborist for its new and fast-growing Tree Care Division. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience of practical climbing, rigging, removal and pruning, and should be ISA Certified or eligible for certification. Additional requirements for this position include a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a standard transmission chip truck. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) is considered an asset. Wages are competitive and reflect level of experience and qualifications.

SENIOR CONSULTING ARBORIST

Diamond Head is looking for a full-time consulting arborist with at least 5 years of practical experience. Applicants must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to work independently. This position requires efficiency within a fast-paced environment and the application of sound judgement based on extensive previous experience.

Qualifications and skills should include formal arboriculture or forestry training and must have ISA Certification and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ). Having the BC Parks Wildlife and Danger Tree assessor credentials would be an asset. Computer aptitude and software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), are required. Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS or equivalent mapping programs are required. Good verbal and written communication skills and client management experience are essential. Equivalent experience and education will be considered.

Diamond Head has an opening for a junior consulting arborist to join our busy team. Applicants must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. 

Qualifications and skills should include formal arboriculture training, forestry training, or 2 or more years with ISA Certification. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) or the ability to take the course immediately is an asset. Computer aptitude and software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), are required. Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS would be an asset. Equivalent experience and education will be considered.
